The best time to go to Whistler is just before peak time. We went before December 15 which makes it easier for us to find deals. With Groupon, we got rooms for less than $100 for 4 people near the village. We went to the Olympic Park for affordable fun in the snow. There are near by local parks which you can go to let kids enjoy the fun for cheap. Happy Holidays!

We have a tough time finding a good Hong Kong style restaurant that we like. Picky P has found one that she thinks is interesting, Lido Restaurant. I am not really picky on food choices so we decided to give it a try on our next trip to Richmond. First off parking to this place is a nightmare. We got there around 2:30 PM and the lot was totally full. The best bet is for you to park at the nearby Alberdeen Centre and just walk across to the plaza. We would usually pop by Daiso afterwards so we are still customers. It is a mid-sized place and can easily be crowded. We still had to wait for 15 minutes at this time. We were given multiple menus which easily can confuse people. You will easily get overwhelmed. Just look at all the specials around you when seated. The popular dish here is their pineapple buns which are constantly being made. When we got there, the last batch was just finished. So I ordered something which I hope would go good with it. From the Chinese & Western Style Mini Set, I got the ham & eggs, beef brisket & tendon, and Japanese style chicken. I think I made a mistake with the chicken because it was full of Teriyaki sause which I don’t particularly care for. Picky P got the satay beef, turnip cake and fries. The turnip cake was good. I didn’t like the satay beef much (too soft), but she enjoyed it. For the kids, we ordered fried wonton and pig’s blood. Big A enjoyed the big blood, chocolate as he says. We all enjoyed the wonton.
The utensils delivered to us for self service but were wet. Our table quickly filled up with plates. The restrooms were acceptable for an Asian restaurant. My lemon ice tea wasn’t anything special. Overall, Picky P liked it. For me, I am so-so probably due to higher expectations from the “hype” of the buns which I think are average. The crowded atmosphere of the place didn’t help. The kids liked the food and we had plenty to pack home afterwards. Will I go back? Maybe… if I can find parking and go there at 3:30PM. |
